QuickBooks Error -6000,-82

 

What happens while an error occurs?

  • While opening the company file QuickBooks Displays an error message.
  • Error -6000, -80: An error occurred when QuickBooks tried to access the company file

 

Cause of error:

 

  • Data conversion or restoration over a network.
  • Multiple systems hosting the data file.
  • QuickBooks is unable to connect with the server.
  • Damaged company file.

The solution for Single-user mode.

 

Solution 1- Get QuickBooks Company File Diagnostic tool downloaded.

 

  • Download and run this tool;
  • After running the tool if the damage is being detected but no action is taken then it would display two options.
  • Restore a recently backed up company file
  • Restore all or most of your data using Auto Data Recovery

 

  • Important: For QuickBooks Pro Premier 2010 and above only. And QuickBooks 2012 and above for other versions.
  • Contact QuickBooks Technical Support at 1800-470-6903 to get connected with data recovery team.

 

In case No damage is being detected then proceed to follow the next solution.

Solution 2 – Copy files to local disk C

 

  • You need to copy a backup file having file extension as .qbb or the company file to be updated with. qbw to a local drive.
  • Now simply restore or update your company file.
  • Now copy restored or updated file to the original location of it.

 

The solution for Multi-user Mode

Below are 3 solutions that are recommended for this error:-

 

Solution 1- Get QuickBooks Company File Diagnostic tool downloaded.

Solution 3 – Fixing the error manually

In case QuickBooks connection diagnostic tool is unable to run on your computer or you want a manual method to fix the error then follow the steps mentioned below:-

 

Step 1- Get QuickBooks Updated.

 

  • Update the QuickBooks to latest release available.
  • Select and keep following one of the two update options-
  • Automatic Update
  • Manual update

 

In case you already have the latest release then proceed for next step.

 


Step-2 Configuring QuickBooks Files or security software.

NOTE:- Due to a large number of available firewall apps and their complexity Intuit does not provide support for this software fixation may charge a fee.

 

  • Refer to internet & Firewall protection for updates and networking accessibility to make needed exceptions visible.
  • Follow the instructions given on the website of your working firewall and allow QuickBooks to access the internet.

 

In case even after configuring firewall the error persists follow the next step.

 

Step 3-  Checking accessibility permissions for the company file.

 

  • Open- Set up permissions – in order to share a company files web page to confirm permissions are correctly set.
  • Set permissions for QuickBooks if needed.

 

In case permissions are correct but error exists then follow the next step.

 

Step 4- Scanning Company File.

 

In order to create a .nd ( Network Descriptor ) file, you must scan the folder where company file is saved these files sore important information about file hosting computer.

 

  • Click on the start icon on the taskbar and select Programs>QuickBooks>QuickBooks Database>Server Manager.
  • In the server manager window, you need to click on Add Folder and browse to the folder where the files are stored to scan.
  • When the folder gets added simply click on Scan button.
  • When it says QuickBooks Company File Found click on close.
  • Now go to the folder of company file and make sure it contains.QBW.ND files in it.

 

In case the error persists even after scanning then proceed for next step.

 

Step 5- Verify hosting computer.

 

5.1- Computer Workstation.

 

  • Open file menu in QuickBooks and select utilities.
  • If it displays Host Multi-User access, its not a host computer. Check the next computer.
  • When you find Stop Hosting Multi-User access on any computer which will be the hosting computer.
  • Click on yes for Stop hosting Multi-User access.
  • When it asks – company file must be closed- click yes. And move to the next computer.

  • Put mouse pointer on the taskbar and apply right click, select teak manager.
  • In a column for image name, you need to find QBDBMgrN.exe.
  • In case this process is not found make sure QuickBooks is open.
  • Log in as an administrator.
  • On windows search type run. On run pop up type services.MSC and click on.
  • Find- QuickBooksDB23 (QuickBooks 2013),QuickBooksDB22 (QuickBooks 2012)
  • Make sure automatic startup is selected and service is started.

 

  • In the row- QBDBMgrN.exe, make sure the username column is right.
  • For QuickBooks 2013, the entry should be QBDataServiceUser23
  • For QuickBooks 2012, the entry should be QBDataServiceUser22

 

If the error still persists even after trying this step then follow the next step.

 

Step 6. Check data damage in the company file.

 

6.1- from hosting computer.

 

  • Go to the computer holding the company file.
  • In case – Server install only- is being installed on this computer go to- Copy file to another location.
  • Open the company file in QuickBooks encountering the error.
  • If a company file is opening verify it.
  • If unable to open company file copy file on another location.

 

  • Rebuild company file is asked for.

 

6.2- copy file to another location

 

  • Go to the company file folder.
  • On file apply right click and select copy.
  • On your desktop press ctrl+v.
  • Now launch QuickBooks and open the company file by browsing to file in your desktop.
  • If the error continues the file is damaged.
  1. Restore backup if any.
  2. Contact QuickBooks Support at 1800-470-6903.
  • If the file opens copy file back to original location.
  1. Open the company file folder and right click on the original file, select rename and type damaged.
  2. close QuickBooks.
  3. Apply right click on the file you saved on the desktop.
  4. Select copy.
  5. Open the folder of original company file.
  6. Press ctrl+v.
  7. Open QuickBooks by browsing the file from the original location.
